Original Six teams wore special throwback styles during select games in 1993-94 to celebrate the NHL's 75th Anniversary. The Detroit Red Wings wore this rare jersey style against the Chicago Blackhawks on January 27, 1994.

LaPointe played in the NHL for 16 years (991 games), 10 of which came for the Detroit Red Wings. He was rookie-eligible in 1993-94, having played in just seven games combined over the prior two seasons, and he scored eight goals with eight assists and was +7.
