Ekblad, Aaron *
Red Set 1 - w/ NHL Centennial Patch
Florida Panthers 2017-18
#5 Size: 58

Aaron Ekblad wore this red jersey while playing for the Florida Panthers during the 2017-2018 National Hockey League season. It includes the NHL Centennial Patch.

Ekblad was wearing this jersey when he earned the second fighting major of his professional career on October 28, 2017 while playing against the Detroit Red Wings at the BB&T Center in Sunrise, FL. Ekblad wasn't pleased with a hit he received into the boards from Red Wings forward Justin Abdelkader as he swept the puck down the ice. Ekblad grabbed Abdelkader around the neck, dragging Abdelkader's helmet off as each player dropped their gloves. Ekblad kept his close grip on Abdelkader, which restricted each fighter to punches to each others' midsection, though Abdelkader aimed a swing or two at Ekblad's head as the officials dragged the pair apart. Each player received five minutes for fighting. Ekblad would provide an assist on Florida's second goal, but Detroit was the eventual victor in the shootout with a final score of 3-2.

Ekblad was also wearing this jersey in the Panthers' next game when he scored his 40th NHL goal on October 30, 2017 against the Tampa Bay Lighting, also at home in Sunrise. Ekblad scored the first goal of the game for the Panthers at 10:31 of the first period, assisted by Jonathan Huberdeau and Sasha Barkov. Ekblad scored the goal on his 599th career shot on goal, passing the 600 mark later in the game.

This jersey displays minor burns and team repairs on both sleeves.

For the first time in his NHL career, Ekblad played in all 82 games for the Panthers during the 2017-18 season. He finished sixth on the team and first among Florida's defenders with 16 goals while adding 22 assists. Ekblad was also third on the team in blocked shots, posting a career-high 121.
