The Kraken earned their first Playoff qualification in 2022-23 by finishing fourth in the Pacific Division with a 46-28-8 record (100 points) and became the first team in its first-ever Playoff series to dethrone the defending Stanley Cup Champion by beating the Avalanche in seven games.
In his first full season in the NHL, Beniers was awarded the Calder Memorial Trophy as the league’s Rookie of the Year. Playing in 80 games, he led the league's rookies with 57 points and tied for the top spot with 24 goals. He was second on the Kraken for goals during the regular season, and led NHL rookies in playoff scoring with three goals and four assists in 12 games.
