The first overall selection in the 1992 NHL Entry Draft, Hamrlik played for 20 seasons in the NHL, finishing with 1,395 games played. The defender scored 155 goals, 638 points, and amassed 1,408 penalty minutes while playing with seven teams. He was selected for the NHL All-Star Game three times. Playing for his country, Hamrlik helped the Czech Republic to their first gold medal in Olympic ice hockey at the 1998 Olympics in Nagano.
