In the news and at the forefront of jersey collecting.
May 10, 2006

TORONTO _ The National Hockey League Alumni Association and MeiGray Group, the world’s leading distributor of game-worn hockey jerseys, have entered into a working agreement that will benefit the “Hockey’s Greatest Family Fund” while offering hockey fans and sports memorabilia collectors around the world direct access to game-worn relics from hockey’s former greats.

MeiGray, the Branchburg, N.J., company which partners with the National Hockey League and directs the highly successful NHL-MGG Game-Worn Jersey Authentication Program, has been named the “Exclusive Game-Worn Source of the NHL Alumni Association.”

MeiGray’s Vintage division will work directly with the NHL Alumni and its more than 2,500 members to authenticate and market game-worn player collections via NHL Auctions and meigray.com.

Under this partnership, a portion of every sale will go directly to the NHL Alumni’s “Hockey’s Greatest Family Fund.”

“We think this will be a great partnership.” Said NHL Alumni Associate Executive Director Mark Napier. “MeiGray’s reputation for integrity and authenticity is unparalleled in the hockey collecting world. The Alumni Association is proud to offer the chance for collectors to enjoy jerseys and memorabilia from past greats of the game. And best of all, together we will be helping former NHL players in need.”

“We are honored to be welcomed into Hockey’s Greatest Family,” said MeiGray Group President and Chief Operating Officer Barry Meisel. “We’re proud to be asked by the former players who have made hockey the world’s greatest game. We’re eager to help them share their memorabilia with collectors. There are some wonderful jerseys and historic pucks and sticks out there that the players want to share with the world.

“Collectors should feel good knowing that as these one-of-a-kind items enter the hobby, a portion of every sale will help a worthy cause like the Hockey’s Greatest Family Fund. It’s a win-win situation for the hobby and the players.”

The NHL Alumni Association was founded in November 1999 and now represents more than 2,500 former NHL players. NHLAA assists all former players’ transition from the great game, while working with local charities in North America to assist their worthy causes. The NHLAA is excited to build programs such as this to assist those players who created our game’s great heritage.

MeiGray, which also directs the AHL-MGG and ECHL-MGG Game-Worn Jersey Programs, has sold more than 40,000 game-worn jerseys since 1997. MeiGray also has working relationships with the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks, MLB’s Texas Rangers, and the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles.
