Carrier scored one goal with two assists in 37 regular season games and played in ten playoff games for the Golden Knights in 2017-18.

The Vegas Golden Knights experienced unprecedented success for an expansion team in their first year, rolling to a 51-27-4 record to win the Pacific Division. They swept the Los Angeles Kings in the first round of the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs, defeated the San Jose Sharks in the Western Conference Semi-Finals in six games and won the Western Conference Championship over the Winnipeg Jets in five games.

Their season ended one step short of the Stanley Cup, falling in five games to the Washington Capitals.
